Boatel For Sale

After 14 months of being stranded in the US due to COVID travel restrictions, the Boatel finally returned to Canada in August 2021. After 16 amazing years of operating Making Waves Boatel, Diane and Ted Greene have decided to put the Boatel up for sale. The decision was partially because of COVID-19 imposed closures but also because they are looking forward to pursuing travel plans and fulfilling other dreams on their bucket list.

It’s been 16 amazing years filled with adventure and travels during the winter and the opportunity to host people from around the world in Toronto during the summer. The last winter in the Bahamas was spent providing humanitarian aid to hurricane-raved islands in the Bahamas. Diane and Ted worked hand and hand with homeowners rebuilding their homes. They heard devastating stories from local Bahamians about how Hurricane Dorian destroyed their homes – but not their spirits or their sense of community. We were truly humbled by being welcomed into their community and able to help. One of the highlights of our trip was teaching sea glass art at the school. We were not only helping to rebuild homes we were also helping to rebuild and nuture their spirits.

So many of our guests are sad about us closing but we have no regrets. Our hearts are full of great memories of all the friends we have made along our Boatel journey. We are hoping that we can find a buyer that wants to continue to Boatel business in Toronto. But perhaps it will be someone who wants a 4 bedroom floating home to entertain and that they can travel with to the US or the Bahamas during the winters.

As a legacy to the Boatel. last summer during our quarantine Diane was able to finally published her cookbook entitled the Joy of Breakfast. It is filled with over 100 great Boatel breakfast creations from the past 16 years. Those books are available for sale on Diane’s Etsy Page along with her sea glass jewelry and art at Joy of Breakfast

The Boatel will be docked in Toronto for the summer where Diane and Ted can enjoy the Boatel with their 3 children and 7 grandchildren until a new owner is found. The Boatel will be available for viewings by advance appointments ONLY and COVID safety protocols will be strictly adhered to.
