The Boatel hosted the first Girls Night INN on May 30 to June 1st, 2014 which was a weekend cancer retreat for three young girls with cancer and their moms. They spent a fun-filled weekend aboard Toronto’s only Boat Bed and Breakfast with lots of laughter and surprises. Here are some comments and photos that captured the essence of this very special weekend aboard the Boatel.
“I can’t thank you enough for this weekend! We had an amazing time. Thank you so much for all the work you put into making this weekend a great weekend of memories. Julie and I talked about it the whole way home on the train. We tried to pick out our favourite part, but couldn’t narrow it down to just one.” Cathy & Julie London, Ontario.
“Thank you for allowing Mariposa Cruises the honour of participating with Girls Night INN. Your efforts coordinating this undertaking were instrumental to the experience these families had. We appreciate you for being a community-oriented leader and spreading good will.
I am glad that Linda was able to pull together the Fire & Police elements for the girls. Until the next time!”
Cindi Van den Heuvel – Mariposa Cruises
Thank you to the Toronto Fire Fighters and Toronto Marine Police for coming down to the dock to greet the girls. Also a special thanks to the team on the Fire Boat for that warm welcome.
We received overwhelming support from all of our community partners. VIA Rail Canada and Metrolinx (GO train) supplied the transportation to the girls to Toronto. Toronto City Sightseeing, Mariposa Cruises, Bata Shoe Museum, Five Star Water Taxi, supplied passes for all the girls. BBCanada, Shoppers Drug Mart supplied large welcome gift baskets for the everyone. Dinner was supplied by Williams Fresh Café and Pizzaiolo. Million Dollar Smiles donated $100 Toy-R-Us gift certificates and the big bears that made all the girls smile! From the bottom of our hearts we thank you!!
We are pleased to have raised awareness and money for Million Dollar Smiles and Childhood Cancer Canada. Together we have all made a difference in the lives of these girls and other families suffering from childhood cancer. Many thanks to those who donated their time, services and money.
“Thank you – that’s exactly what we needed”.
Ashley – Barrie, Ontario
